Civil and site work takeoff software

CivilQuick Takeoff measures the civil scope of a plan set for you: paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement markings, storm drainage, water, sanitary sewer, erosion control and more, organized by pay item and ready to price.

Civil takeoff without the tracing

A civil takeoff is mostly measuring: linear feet of curb and pipe, square yards of pavement and sidewalk, and a count of every inlet, manhole, valve and hydrant. On a road widening or a site package that can mean days of clicking along lines in a PDF viewer. CivilQuick Takeoff reads the CAD linework inside a vector PDF plan set and does that measuring for you, then gives your estimator a list of quantities to check instead of a stack of sheets to trace.

It is built for heavy civil and site work contractors who bid from DOT, municipal and private development plans, and for the estimators who check engineer's quantities before bid day.

What it takes off

  • PavementFull depth, overlay and mill areas, with asphalt tons by layer
  • Curb & gutterLF by curb type, including curb inside medians
  • Sidewalk & rampsSY of sidewalk, curb ramps as area and count
  • Medians & riprapMedian and riprap areas
  • Pavement markingsLines by width and color, skip lines by gross length
  • GuardrailLF of guardrail
  • Storm drainagePipe by size, inlets and manholes
  • Water & sewerPipe by size with fittings, valves, hydrants and manholes
  • Erosion & sediment controlSilt fence, diversions, inlet protection and more
  • Maintenance of trafficBarrier and devices shown on MOT sheets
  • DemolitionPavement and item removals, counted alongside new work
  • UnderdrainLF, never counted as each

Built around how civil plans are drawn

The right items from the right sheets

A civil plan set repeats itself. The curb on the roadway plan shows up again on the erosion control plan, the traffic control plan and the pavement marking plan. CivilQuick sorts the set by sheet type and takes each item only from the sheets it belongs on, so road items come from the roadway plans, erosion and sediment control items from the E&S sheets, and traffic control items from the MOT sheets.

Legends, scales and match lines

Each sheet's own legend and scale are read before anything is measured, proposed work is kept apart from existing features, and quantities stop with a straight cut at every match line so nothing is counted twice between sheets.

Overlaps are counted the way they are paid

Where pay items share a footprint, such as pavement demolition under new full depth asphalt, both are counted. Where an item is paid inside another, it can be listed on its own line and marked incidental so a subcontractor can still price it.

Check every number

Every quantity is tied to the line, area or symbol it came from. Click a total and CivilQuick opens the sheet, zooms in and highlights the linework behind it. Items it isn't sure about go on a review list, and anything can be reassigned to a different pay item or measured by hand. When it looks right, export the takeoff to Excel by pay item and by sheet.

Civil takeoff questions

What is civil takeoff software?

Civil takeoff software measures the quantities in a set of civil construction plans, such as linear feet of curb and pipe, square yards of paving and the count of structures, so a contractor can price the work. CivilQuick Takeoff does the measuring automatically from vector PDF plans and lets the estimator review and correct it.

Does it work for site development as well as roadway jobs?

Yes. It works from the linework and legends on the plan sheets, so commercial site plans with paving, curb, sidewalk, storm and utilities are handled the same way as a road widening.

Does CivilQuick do earthwork cut and fill?

Yes. It reads the cross sections in the plan set and computes cut and fill by average end area, with your topsoil strip, undercut, shrink and swell, so you get excavation, embankment, borrow and waste without separate earthwork software. Site grading from CAD surfaces and contours is coming.
